Debbie's Fight against Cancer

£26,239 of £180,000 goal

Raised by 528 people in 32 months
After being diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer in 2014, Debbie fought the disgusting disease through Chemotherapy, surgery and meds to make your eyes water. But to see her improve, go through reconstruction and get back to fighting fit was amazing and could only get better.

On the 22nd October Debbie got rushed in to hospital with what was thought to be a stroke, followed by another the following day, only to find out this was a seizure caused by secondary cancer in the brain.......her fight was only just beginning!

Devastating does not even cover how you feel when your world falls down around you hearing that the big C is going to take your mum away from you and there's nothing you can do!
How can such a horrid disease take such an amazing person that would do anything for everyone else before herself. To see her take it in her stride and still worry about the rest of us when having this news is outstanding.
There are so many things for her still to do, see and experience, and I want her by my side on my wedding day.

So I am here to ask for your support to help her fight and get as much time as possible to enjoy time with family/friends/loved ones and keep cancer away for as long as possible.

There are treatments and drugs that the NHS will not offer due to cost and we want to ensure every option and every door is open to Debbie.
Treatment is the first step to starting her fight, of which we will look to follow up with a drug called Lapatini B, which is meant to help stop the cancer cells from growing.

This is just the start of this fight and every day new treatments and medications are being discovered thanks to the amazing work of cancer research. So please help Debbie fight and keep the rest of her life as she deserves.

Thankyou from the bottom of our hearts, anyone who has ever met Debbie will say what a truly amazing person she is, I hope you too can have that pleasure she deserves every chance possible.

“Help save my life; help save others”.

Debbie has the opportunity to receive a trial treatment in the USA, called Chimeric Antigen Receptor, (CAR T). The therapy is a completely new type of treatment that uses the immune system to kill cancer cells. It is designed for people with advanced progressing blood cancers who have limited treatment options. It is now being tested on solid tumours.
Until recently the use of CAR T has been restricted to small clinical trials, but the programme is being expanded due to remarkable results from those taking part; some of which had stopped responding to all other treatments.
“I am one of the very few people in the world to be offered a trial for Cart T Cell therapy in the USA. There is nothing else like this anywhere in the UK. Although this type of therapy is available for blood cancer here on the NHS it is not available for breast cancer. This cutting-edge technology is personalised to my specific breast cancer in the brain; without this treatment my options are very limited. To put this very plainly: I want to live. If this treatment is successful it could not only save my life but could potentially open doors to others who have my disease and could save countless lives”.
Debbie was first diagnosed with aggressive HER2 breast cancer in 2014. After chemotherapy treatment and a mastectomy we believed she was in remission. When Debbie was rushed to hospital in 2016, with what was initially thought to be a series of strokes, tests showed that the cancer had spread to her brain.

We are pleading with local people and businesses to help fund this trial in the USA and help pioneer this treatment for others. We have been organising events and fundraisers in a bid to raise money to keep Debbie alive, however we are now needing to ‘up our game’ so to speak and now turning to the community for vital support in raising the estimated £180,000 needed.

“Living with cancer is intense. As a family we spend every waking hour thinking about it and how we can fight it. It feels like we’re all struggling to survive in a world dominated by cancer. This new treatment has given us some much needed hope “.

Can you help??

Even if we can get everyone to give £1 or £2, please please spread Debbie’s story far and wide and help us get Debbie to the US for this treatment.

Hello all and a Happy new year to you.
Unfortunately 2019 has so far not been the new year Debbie was hoping for.
It has started with a stay at her least favourite place to visit, the hospital, after a five hour stint of large seizures.

It has been a really tough few days so far for Debbie but as always she is fighting and being amazingly strong through everything and has such determination.
It is going to be a very long road to recovery so please have her in your thoughts throughout your days, know she has you and your support behind her enables her strength to grow.

In the meantime the program that Debbie is hoping to be apart of has moved into the next stage of acceptance which means that they believe this could help Debbies diagnosis. We have been doing applications in the background for this program over the last few months and it could be what we are looking for to help Debbie however it is hugely expensive if she gets final acceptance.
We will keep you updated with Debbies progress and the application process as and when we can, we will need your help massively if it goes through like we hope.

Thanks again for your continued support, it means the world to Debbie and gives her extra strength to fight this horrible battle.

We are fast approaching the end of the year and what a year it’s been.......
Today Debbie is halfway through the week of radiotherapy before starting her new treatment just ahead of Christmas.
We couldn’t be where we are today without all of your help and support throughout the year.
From the magical masquerade ball in snowy March to our fantastic Christmas celebration at the beginning of this month we have raised a good amount of money and have enabled Debbie to have the treatments that she needs.

We are constantly looking for the next treatment and next steps and will keep you posted into 2019 on Debbies path and progress, however, as always would be hugely grateful for any events/fundraising that you are able to do on Debbies behalf.

As we are nearing Christmas, don’t forget Debbies fund if you are not doing Cards and want to donate instead.

We would like to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas, here’s to a time with family and friends. Have a lovely festive period.

From Debbie and all of us here.
Xx

Well it’s a little sooner than I thought I’d be updating you however, nearly 2 years to the day of having the world being turned upside down to hear that Debbie’s breast cancer has made its way to her brain we found ourselves in the same family room taking it in turns to be with Debbie in the emergency room.
Thursday saw Debbie have a high number of seizures leaving her completely paralysed down the right side and with no speech and memory loss.
To say we were scared is an understatement.
It has been a rollercoaster of a weekend but as always Debbie is doing absolutely amazingly.
Progress is steady, and a long road to travel ahead, but with a new treatment plan being put into place we can only hope that it is the correct path to take.

Thankyou as always for all of your ongoing support.
Please keep sharing and continuing to fundraise for Debbie, she needs us all more than ever.
