On July 4th,  Ben was in Ocean City enjoying the day with friends. When he went body surfing,  he dove into the water in front of the lifeguard stand. The lifeguard quickly realized that he did not get up.

The lifeguard rushed into the water to rescue him. They crossed his arms behind his head to brace his neck. Quickly many other lifeguards came into the water to assist and stabilize Ben's neck.  The lifeguards involved in the rescue were 21 years old. They made the family aware that Ben was a strong young man and a fighter and that Ben was able to keep it together the entire time.  Ben was able to talk and answer all questions.

At the hospital it was discovered that he broke his neck at C5 and suffered a spinal cord injury.  Once stabilized, he was then transported to Shock Trauma where he is undergoing testing and multiple surgeries.

He is surrounded by loving family and friends.  We are asking for your assistance to help the family with impending medical and unforeseen expenses for Ben's care.
