The Western States Center is dedicated to the broad goal of increasing the participation of an educated public in the democratic process. Specific purposes served by the Western States Center include these: We build the capacity of non-profit public interest organizations to educate their constituencies, train leaders in citizenship skills, and participate in the democratic process. We promote collaboration among constituencies divided over social, economic, and environmental issues, creating new alliances and partnerships better able to address complex public policy problems. We educate the public, the media, and decision-makers on key public policy issues facing society.
