The562.org is a community funded nonprofit media outlet that covers sports and education in the city of Long Beach with free articles, video highlights, photo galleries and more. Founders JJ Fiddler and Mike Guardabascio also visit local high schools and colleges to discuss media and work with aspiring journalists. In total, The562 provides comprehensive sports coverage of nine local high schools, Long Beach City College and Long Beach State, with additional reporting on the Long Beach Unified School District and other major sporting events in the city. The562 strives to serve every segment of Long Beach’s diverse population and, in order to reach every socioeconomic segment of the community, does not enforce a paywall, providing all of its content completely free online and in print.
