Our team from the Department of Pediatrics at SUNY Downstate was awarded the 2022 GMEC Wellness scholarship, and we are excited to announce that we will be organizing the Downstate 5KM Fun Run. We're inviting residents, faculty, family, and friends to participate and help us raise funds for the Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
Purpose: The Pediatric Cancer Foundation (PCF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for childhood cancer and providing support and hope to families affected by this disease. PCF's vision is to improve the quality of life and long-term outlook for children with cancer, while also advancing research to find better treatments. For 50 years, PCF has been funding game-changing research in pediatric cancer, funding patient treatment and endowing world-class hospitals and oncologists with the equipment they need to save lives and improve patient care. It is support from donors like you, that has allowed PCF to be on the front lines in the fight against pediatric cancer and allowed us to play a critical role in moving survivor rates from 58% in 1970 to an 80% cure rate due to major treatment advances and clinical trials.
Goal: Every dollar donated will go directly to the Pediatric Cancer Foundation to support their programs and services.
Event Details: The Downstate 5KM Fun Run will take place on May 12th at the Lincoln Lawn Park (across from the Lincoln Road Playground on East Dr) at Prospect Park, Brooklyn, against the backdrop of a beautiful Brooklyn sunset. The run starts at 6PM. We're inviting participants to donate $20 to join us for a fun day of exercise and community support. Dinner is on us!
