Minnesota Academy of Science

Recently, the Minnesota Academy of Science lost a big sponsor, creating a $200,000 budget deficit that threatens key science programs across Minnesota, including Minnesota Regional Science Bowl and Minnesota State Science and Engineering Fair. Here at the Wayzata Science Coalition, we are a group of students at Wayzata High School who have participated in these competitions and are passionate about learning science. We strongly believe that the continuation of these programs is crucial for inspiring future youth to learn more about STEM. We want to ensure that the opportunities we received from these programs can continue to benefit students across Minnesota, so please consider donating to our cause. All proceeds will be given to Minnesota Academy of Science.

Science Bowl is a team activity that inspires deep learning and problem-solving in students who enjoy science and math. After months of fun, after-school prep sessions, teams from across the state come together for fast-paced, quiz bowl competitions that truly amaze. Winning teams represent Minnesota in the National Science Bowl (NSB). A Minnesota team from Wayzata won the NSB in 2019 and just this past year a brand new team started by students in Minnetonka placed 4th in the nation!

Despite having a very successful and well-loved Science Bowl program in Minnesota, we face losing this activity in the future due to declining corporate sponsorships. Just $20,000 helps keep this program going while we work to secure new sponsors.
