Olivia & La Casa
Love celebrating but are questioning overloading your kids with unnecessary gifts or feeling pressured to buy presents? Our gift-giving traditions often mean harming the environment and placing more value on things rather than on quality time with each other.
I believe there’s a better way, donations towards a cause that changes the lives of those in need.
Imagine a world where we:
- Model a less-is-more approach
- Reduce clutter and help protect our environment
- Plant the seeds of generosity and altruism at home and among our communities
- Make a real difference on those who need it most
About La Casa de la Madre y el Niño (La Casa) and Me
Hello! My name is Catalina Restrepo. I am fortunate beyond words and deeply grateful for my life.
As a child, I lived in Colombia across the street from an adoption center. I grew up aware of how difficult it would be to not have a family, which led me to understand the power of adoption.
When my husband and I were ready to start our family, we decided to adopt as a way to contribute and make a difference. What we hadn’t fully grasped was how much adoption would bring into our lives.
Five years ago, we became the adoptive parents of a baby girl, Olivia. Olivia and our adoption experience taught us unconditional love and a drive to give everything of ourselves. Olivia has a huge heart, is sensible, cares deeply about everyone around her and is an amazing big sister. Thanks to adoption, we found our baby girl, who we believe was always meant to be part of our family but happened to be born in a tummy different from mine. We are forever grateful for this blessing, and for La Casa https://la-casa.org/en/home/ for making our process, and many others, possible.
La Casa is a Colombian non-profit organization, founded eighty years ago to:
- provide care to children without a home and to mothers with a pregnancy in conflict,
- guide the families of children under restoration of rights
- and guide and find adoptive families.
Thanks to donations and collaborators, La Casa has transformed over 20,000 lives. Our support is instrumental so they can continue providing opportunities for our children to thrive.
