Want to join me in making a difference? My name is Paul Gorka, I will be competing in my first full-length Ironman Triathlon (2.4 miles swim/112 mile bike/26.2 mile run. All. at. once.) at the Memorial Hermann IRONMAN TEXAS NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP on April 27th, 2024 and I want to use this event to help inspire others and donate to brain cancer research. I am currently applying for medical school while training for this competition, I have spent the last year working at the White Oak Clinic at INOVA in Northern Virginia, in both Neurological and Head/Neck Oncology as a medical assistant, and want to help raise money for research in this field. In support of the patients I worked with at INOVA, I would like to take this opportunity to raise money and awareness for brain cancer research. Currently, many brain cancers such as glioblastomas are incurable, but through research we can hope to one day end such diseases. The hospital system that I worked for has recently opened their own trial research department, giving patients access to novel and possibly groundbreaking treatments to help them, often in situations where there is no other option or avenue for a cure. By donating to this cause, you can help fund future trials and research into novel cancer treatments, and provide a life-saving alternative for patients all over the world suffering from cancer.
