Raise The Roof On The Palace
Since 2003, the Palace Theatre has been the place to go in our area to see independent, foreign, documentary and classic cinema. For 20 years audiences have enjoyed movies like “Pan’s Labyrinth,” “Cinema Paradiso”, “Inconvenient Truth” and many Hitchcock classics in a downtown movie house. To continue our mission the Palace needs your assistance. It is time for the theater to have a new roof put on. The existing structure over the Palace Theater was last replaced in 1990 and was due for replacement in 2015. For the past 8 years volunteers have, in the summers, patched the lid on the theater and extended its life. But as we all know, 2023 was an especially blustery winter and there’s no more patching to be done. Now it’s time to Raise the Roof. As we are all acutely aware, the cost of materials and labor has skyrocketed in the last few years, with prices doubling in many cases. We need your help to pay for an estimated $90,000 in repairs at the very top of the 110-year-old Main Street building in Frostburg. Whether you donate a dollar or a thousand dollars (or more), you can join a long list of local supporters and volunteers working to keep Mountain Maryland’s cornerstone of culture alive and screening.
Together, we can Raise the Roof so that films, music and theater can continue to be part of the Frostburg community for another 110 years.
