Help Creative Kids Playhouse survive the pandemic!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in an effort to keep all of our students and audience members safe, Creative Kids Playhouse Children's Theatre of Orange County has had to move largely online, reduce cast sizes, prohibit audience attendance, and abide by strict safety precautions for their few in-person classes, shows, and rehearsals over the past 10 months. For the past 10 years, CKP has been almost entirely self-supported by enrollment fees and ticket sales. Understandably, the company's income has taken a huge financial blow: with 2020 revenue more than 50% lower than 2019.

Creative Kids Playhouse Children's Theatre of Orange County is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to offering opportunities for children to experience the joy and fun of performing in a musical,  and opportunities for the community to experience entertaining children's theater performances. Our excellent instructors are professionals in drama, dance and voice, intent on creating a fun, nurturing environment where kids can flourish. CKP has helped so many children in so many ways: teaching them how to be their best selves through theatre education. Since 2011, we have prided ourselves on our ability to deliver our mission statement to every student who participates: that every child deserves a moment in the spotlight. 

Creative Kids Playhouse is hopeful to resume fully in-person classes and productions in the late summer to early fall of 2021. We plan to complete building our theatre during the pandemic, so that once we are finally able to gather in-person again, Creative Kids Playhouse will be back in full swing: and better than ever!

Our goals may seem lofty, but we are blessed to have a generous donor who has agreed to match whatever we raise up to $50,000! Over the next few months, we need YOUR help to make it through this increasingly difficult time, and continue providing quality theatre education to the children of Orange County.

CKP has so much going on! We will have produced 32 musicals in 2016, bringing us to a whopping 122 since we were founded in 2011.  We produce musicals for a variety of age groups, for the community to enroll in as well as school musicals.  We are in the second year of implementing our Theater In Action programming, which brings Theater Education to every student in every classroom of the schools who have signed up.

We recognize that theater education develops more skills and abilities than initially meets the eye.  In addition to teaching kids how to communicate using their voice and body, theatre education unlocks a part of the brain that looks at problems from a different point of view.  It helps with reading and pre-reading skills, empathy, teamwork, confidence, and understanding body  language. 

We've seen the impact that CKP has had on individuals.  They are equipped to go forward in life with a battery of skills that are not taught in schools these days, and will set them up for success.

This #GivingTuesday drive will fund scholarships for 2017.  We try to give out 1-3 scholarships for every show that we produce.  Your gift will go directly into our scholarship fund.
