Hi, my name is Cavanaugh and I'm 7 years old.

After I was bullied and I felt a darkness inside of me, I knew I didn't want other kids to feel the same way I felt.

So, I asked my mom if she could help me spread love and positivity.

And, the more I gave back to my community, the more I wanted to keep doing it.

That's why I started Cool & Dope   which is a nonprofit that is all about raising awareness and showing the world that kids can have an impact – no matter their age!

Being positive and giving good vibes is what Cool & Dope does.

During this coronavirus pandemic, it is scary and it feels like the world is coming to an end, but I know with love we can get through this together.

So, with all of my savings from three birthdays and two Christmases, I made 68 care packs for senior citizens  so they could have what they needed to feel safe. And, then I used some money that was left to buy 31 hot meals for the elderly. And, then I wanted to give back even more, so I went to social media and asked for donations.

And, I got enough money to buy food for 90 students!!!

But, I want to help as many people in my community get through this scary time. That's why I'm launching the "LOVE is greater than COVID-19" Community Pantry. If you are in need or if you know someone in need, REQUEST A CARE PACK: bit.ly/pantryrequest .

UPDATE (4/4): This past week, GUESS WHAT?!

Thanks to generous donations from Buca Di Beppo, H&S Bakery + Positivity Creators, like you, I was able to deliver 140 hot meals this week. 90 delicious meals went to So What Else, Inc to feed low-income students and 50 meals went to senior citizens at the Churchill Senior Living Apartments.

AND AND AND... we're launching the pantry this weekend (April 4th and April 5th) and giving out care packs to help 100 people! If you know someone in need within 15 miles of Gaithersburg, MD 20877, have them complete a care pack request and we'll take care of them!

When I was 5 years old, my mom and I went on a road trip from Colorado to South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore.

But, as we drove for what seemed like FOREVER we noticed something very strange... there were no cars... no stores... no houses... not even a single gas station for HOURS!

And as the gas light came on and we were surrounded by nothing but wilderness... we saw a sign for the Pine Ridge Reservation.

"How can people live out here and survive?" I asked my mom and her answer shocked me... "They can't... at least not well."

That's when I KNEW I wanted to help the people of Pine Ridge... and with COVID now spreading on the reservation, I have my heart and mind set on filling a 53 FOOT TRAILER with supplies.

And, if you landed on this page... then I need your huge heart to help me too because they need us more than ever!

If you've never heard of the Pine Ridge Reservation... let me tell you a little bit about who you'll be helping and WHY we need to help NOW.

Did you know that...

-->The average life expectancy on the reservation is just 47 years old for men and 52 years old for women.

-->The infant mortality rate is 300% higher and teen suicide rates are 150% higher than the U.S. National Average.

-->Only 19% of the population lives past their 50th birthday.

But, that's not all...

-->97% of the population lives WELL below the poverty line and make less than $3,500 A YEAR!

-->There is only 1 grocery store to serve 25,000 people, often without fresh fruits or vegetables.

-->There is NO industry, technology or commercial infrastructure to provide
employment which is why 90% of residents are UNEMPLOYED. (The nearest town to find work is at least 120 miles away)

And reading these last few made me cry, but I know together WE can help them because...

--> 33% of homes have NO electricity or access to running water or a sewage system. 

--> Summer temperatures reach well over 110 degrees and winters bring bitter
cold that can easily reach -50 degrees below zero (or worse!)

--> 60% of homes on the reservation need to be demolished due to infestation of potentially fatal black mold, but there are no insurance or government programs to assist families in replacing their homes.

--> There are, on average, 17 people that live in one small two-bedroom home, with many being forced to sleep on dirt floors.
