Cancer Warrior Sisters Medical Fund

It is unfortunate that almost everyone nowadays has felt the devastating effect of cancer.  To some it came as ripples, while for others, as crashing waves.  I lost a brother to cancer 6-years ago.  Now, our family is facing this same Big C – and it came twice as strong.  This page is for my 2-niece, they are sisters who have shared everything since childhood, and are now both battling Stage 4 Colon Cancer.

Hermilyn or Elaine to our family is the eldest of (4) siblings.  She’s 35-years old and a mother to (3) beautiful children:  Jahred (12), Euchel (11) and Jireh (4).  She is the sole breadwinner, supporting her family by working graveyard shifts with the BPO/Call Center Industry the past (14) years.  It has been a blessing that her sister Sheryl took on the role of caring for her children while she’s at work.  Her children grew up not lacking a mother’s presence at home because these sisters happily shared this responsibility.

Sheryl or Roro to our family is 33-years old and has embraced single-blessedness.  Hermilyn’s children lovingly calls her Naynay (Mom) in our language.  She has an Accounting degree but gladly opt to help raise her sister’s children.  This is not unusual at all because Sheryl is one of the most giving person I’ve known.  She gladly shares whatever she has – even herself, to make a difference.

Having just been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer, they need to undergo operations and chemo treatments as soon as possible.  Their dad is in remission from colon cancer, squamous cell carcinoma and MALT Lymphoma while also recovering from a recent angioplasty.  Their mom (my sister) is a social worker at Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Manila.... she has diabetes and liver issues but has set aside her own health concerns and focused her energy and resources on her husband and daughter's treatments.

Like I said earlier, cancer comes as crashing waves.  Their family has been having these piling medical costs the past 6-years and is no longer financially sustainable.  We are very grateful for everyone across the globe who have reached out with prayers, concerns and assistance during this trying time.

A fund has been set up to raise $100,000 to help with the sisters medical bills.  Funds raised will also provide for the basic and immediate needs of Hermilyn’s children as she directs her strength to this fight.  If you are willing and able, we would appreciate your much needed help. Every bit makes a big difference. Thank you and may God bless you and your household a hundred fold!
