Big Lu's Big Journey

Lucius Benjamin Richard Stuczynski, "Big Lu," was a light in all of our lives. Born at 25 weeks, 3 days at just 15 ounces, he fought many battles during his life in the NICU. At 4 1/2 months old, he passed away in his parents arms at the Cleveland Clinic as the illness was too much for his body to contain.
 
As his parents, we learned many lessons, made many friends, and talked to many different people during his hospital stay. Big Lu was very loved by all he touched, and a lot of people he didn't even get the chance to meet. As we are people of faith, Lu was able to bring thousands of people together in prayer.

We want Big Lu's legacy to live on forever. We cannot simply accept the fact that he was here for such a short time, and now he's gone and that's it. He has made such an impact on everyone he touched that we want to be able to continue that impact, and be able to bless others. Therefore we have decided to start a fund for Big Lu's Big Journey, which will hopefully result in a non-profit in his name. We have many ideas on what we want to do to honor our son, but as he has just passed, our mission is not exactly clear yet. We WILL do something for babies in the NICU, whether it's working with our team of neonatologists on medical research and new equipment to save babies that have the same conditions as Lu had, opening up a home close to the hospital for families who live too far away, or providing a scholarship for future NICU nurses, just to name a few of the goals we have in mind so far. 

We thank you all for your support to our mission, and for loving our son. The tagline for our non-profit is simple, as it was my go to phrase for Lu. I believe he is still fighting up in heaven for all of the preemies here on earth, and so we will continue to fight in his name.
