After a tough year and several setbacks due to her medical condition, Myasthenia Gravis. Noreen and Bill set out on a road trip from their home in Mass to sunny Florida on the 21st of February for a much needed get away and to see their island girl, Katie, who travelled from Vieques to meet them. On the 22nd, Noreen became gravely ill and was admitted to the ICU unit of University Hospital Rahway in New Jersey. In true Hogan fashion, Kerri and Katie hopped on the first available flights to Jersey and her tightknit family has not left her side. Unconscious and breathing with the help of machines until the 26th, Noreen has a long road to recovery ahead of her. Her timeline and very future are uncertain at this point and Bill, Katie and Kerri are facing mounting costs due not only to the hospital stay but because of the continued time in hotels, meals, etc.
Noreen has never met a stranger. She has spent her life in service to others as a nurse, and has been the rock of her family. She and Bill have two biological daughters but they've become honorary and "stand in" parents to 100s along life's journey. They have opened their homes and hearts, whether in Mass or VQS so that anyone and everyone who needed a soft place to land, a Thanksgiving meal, or just a friendly connection had a place to go. They have instilled these same characteristics in their daughters and grandchildren and each and every one of us is better off for having the light of Noreen Hogan shine on this planet.
It is an honor to be able to give back to Noreen, who has given so much of herself and to lift up the people who have lifted so many others along the way. I humbly ask that you find it in your heart to make a donation to Noreen's medical fund so that we can ease the burden her family is facing. All money raised will go directly to Noreen and Bill to cover their expenses. No matter how big or small, it will make a huge difference to some of the greatest people I know.
