Great Wall 1/2 for ALS-Philadelphia
Donazione protetta
January 23, 2015 was the day my life was forever changed. My husband, Craig Davis, was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as
Lou Gehrig's disease). In July 2015 we went for a follow-up appointment at the University of Pennsylvania's ALS Association Center at the Penn Comprehensive Neuroscience Center.
I have never been more humbled by this amazing group of people! We were there for six hours and saw every possible specialist imaginable. We will continue to see these wonderful people two-to-three times a year.
Some of you may know that after my father passed from cancer I ran a 1/2 marathon in Alaska as a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. After our visit with the clinic I decided I would like to run another 1/2 marathon as a fundraiser for the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the ALS Association--http://www.alsphiladelphia.org/.
In 15 days I will be doing a 1/2 marathon on the GREAT WALL of CHINA in Beijing. My training hasn't gone as well as I had planned (this being over 40 thing is for the birds!) so I'll be doing a lot more walking than running. But, in honor of my sweet and ever-annoyingly positive husband I AM going to FINISH and climb those 5,164 steps! As a bonus I'll have my dear friend, Celeste MacMillan, beside me pushing me along the 13.1 miles. http://great-wall-marathon.com/
If you are able to make a donation in support of this incredible organization I will be forever grateful.
