PEACE
!
On August 19th, I will be flying to Africa as and E.P.I.C. Fellow and participating in a public health, clean water project that will impact a village in Iringa a town in central Tanzania.

What will I be doing in Tanzania?
As an E.P.I.C. (Everyday People Initiating Change) Fellow, I will be working with villagers and a team to project manage the building of a well to create a new clean water source for the community.

For 14 days, my team and I will be initiating the plan, surveying the area, speaking to local leaders and changing the lives of the villagers forever by building a well to bring a new clean water source to the village.

Why do we need to do this project?
There is currently a drought in East Africa. In Tanzania, only 50 percent of Tanzania’s population of 53 million have access to an improved source of safe water, and only 34 percent of Tanzania’s population has access to improved sanitation. Under these circumstances people, particularly women and girls, spend a significant amount of time traveling some distance to collect water and the village suffers a range of serious drought-related diseases, in addition to the nutritional impact of lack of rainfall.

With a water source, villagers begin to thrive again, because water is LIFE and BRINGS LIFE.

Water is life...
Water is of major importance to all living things; in some organisms, up to 90% of their body weight comes from water. Up to 60% of the human adult body is water...

Help me help our HUMAN village.
This is a HUMAN RIGHTS issue.

I fundamentally believe that every human being should have access to a healthy and vibrant life including water, safety/shelter, food, freedom and healthcare.

This project is the kickoff of more things that I'll do in Africa (inshallah)...

Where will your money go?

The $5,000 raised for this project will go towards build a well like the one you see in the video above along with the costs of my team's in-country expenses including our projects implementation costs. These include travel to and within Tanzania, lodging, food, materials, testing, labor, implementation, training for educators, training materials, team leader payment, as well as funds to cover 5 years of maintenance for each water well project.

Be a part of #CollectiveImpact:
Your donation will make a direct impact on the lives of a community in Tanzania. Collectively all of the funds donated will go towards being a part of the community collective impact model of giving, where your funds will make a ripple effect across the world.
