Chasing a Dream

Donation protected
Bianca Johnson is a local Greensboro, North Carolina resident who believes dreams were meant to achieve. As a child, she always had a dream to become a published author, and she accomplished that dream in 2017. Bianca writes under the pen name Blaque Diamond, because it has signifigant meaning to her. It represents the trials and tribulations she had to endure to make her dreams a reality. She strives to promote positivity in others on a daily basis, and she does whatever she can to help others in need.

Bianca is totally blind, and she lost her sight when she was just fifteen years old. She got into an altercation with one of her siblings, and it caused her to lose her vision. She doesn't let that stop her from achieving her dreams though. If anything, it causes her to work harder at accomplishing anything she sets her mind to. She dealt with her moments of feeling sorry for herself, but she didn't let it deter her from her goals. She has always loved to read, and that love for reading spawned her love for writing. At the age of eleven, her fifth-grade teacher encouraged her to pursue her dream of becoming a published author.

Many years later, Bianca has done just that by self-publishing her first novel and many others. Her books are available in paperback and EBook formats, but what Bianca really wants is for her books to be available in braille and audio formats. As someone who is blind, she knows from experience how important accessible book formats are to her and other blind and visually impaired book lovers. Bianca believes that everyone deserves to read. Even the blind, but the cost associated with making her books available in those formats is much more than she can afford on her own.

Her goal is to make sure that her books are readily available in an accessible format so that her blind and visually impaired peers can enjoy reading her books just as the people who can read the other formats can. Bianca also wants to be able to help other blind and visually impaired aspiring authors make their dreams of becoming a published author a reality, so she is planning to establish her own publishing company that will primarily publish the works of blind and visually impaired writers. Any donation you can give to help Bianca reach her goal will be greatly appreciated. Any little amount will get her closer to reaching her goal of making her books accessible to everyone.
