World Transplant games 2019 (& British Games)

‪This year I will go for my 9th & 10th world titles representing the Great Britain cycling team in August at The World Transplant Games in Newcastle, England.‪

As riders we get no central funding so we have to raise our own funds to compete. ‬As most of you know (and for those who don’t) I was born with kidney disease (Reflux Nephropathy) luckily I didn’t know until I was 24 years old.

At 25 I received a life saving kidney transplant from my Mum in 2007. In 2008 I received a bike as a present from my Dad and in 2010 I entered my first bike race in Bath, UK at the British Transplant Games. I won the road race and time trial that day and since won 8 World, 6 European and 16 British titles on the bike as well as some points in regular races criterium and road races (against norms!) racing for CC Luton.

The British, European and World Transplant Games are there to help raise the awareness of the importance of organ donation. To me they give me focus, motivation and a life line to keep me healthy and well on and off the bike. Without these competitions, I personally do not think I could have coped as well post transplant psychologically let only physically. They are immensely important, I get to represent the British team with immense pride again for my 5th time at world level.

I will also be attending my 9th British Transplant Games in Newport, Wales in July, where I hope to add to my 16 British titles.

‪If you or your company would like to support me that would be amazing. I’ll try my absolute hardest to do my best in both the road race and time trial. I have a great training programme in place and amazing people supporting on the bike as well as Poppet (my kidney) keeping me alive and smiling!

Many thanks for your support!
