Hunter Jaxon Tindal

It started off as any other weekend, Hunter, my nephew, just 2 years old, played outside. He was fine Saturday and woke up Sunday and could not move. He could not lift his head, move his little body and was very lethargic. He was rushed to Richland Children's Hospital. The doctors have ran multiple tests... MRI, spinal taps, x-rays. But to no avail, he lays paralyzed on his left side and leaves his parents yearning for answers. The doctors are leaning toward: Enterovirus D68

Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) is one of more than 100 non-polio enteroviruses. There are no known cases in SC.
EV68 almost exclusively causes respiratory illness, which varies from mild to severe, but can cause a range of symptoms, from none at all, to subtle flu-like symptoms, to debilitating respiratory illness and a suspected rare involvement in a syndrome with polio-like symptoms. Like all enteroviruses, it can cause variable skin rashes, abdominal pain and soft stools. Initial symptoms are similar to those for the common cold, including a runny nose, sore throat, cough, and fever. As the disease progresses, more serious symptoms may occur, including difficulty breathing as in pneumonia, reduced alertness, a reduction in urine production, and dehydration, and may lead to respiratory failure. EV-D68 is disproportionately debilitating in very young children, as well as the very weak. While several hundred people (mostly youth, have been exposed to the disease, less than a hundred of those patients have been diagnosed with severe symptoms (such as paralysis). Hunter is that one child that D-68 has affected severely.

We are asking for your help. His family needs help, financially and emotionally. Prayers are requested. He has 2 loving big brothers, 2 loving big sisters and his new baby sister. If you can help this family, my family would be forever grateful. They have been through so much in the last 2 months. Their daughter was born early and was released from the same Children's Hospital a month or so ago. Hunter's father, my brother, is unable to work while his precious son lays helpless in the hospital. Please open your hearts and help this deserving family. This is very sudden and very hard on our family. We want our precious little boy back.
