Barbara Strawson is a professional dressage competitor, trainer, and instructor based in Clarksburg, Maryland. She is a USDF Gold, Silver and Bronze Medalist and has has trained and competed horses from USDF Training Level through FEI Grand Prix.
From 2001 to the end of 2004, Barbara trained in Germany with Nicole Uphoff, 4-time Olympic Gold Medalist. Barbara began her FEI career training with Scott Hassler, USEF National Young Horse Dressage Coach. She was the Assistant trainer at Hilltop Farm in Colora, MD from 1990 to 2003.
Barbara's skills and sensitivity allow her to bring out the potential in a variety of horse types and personalities. In addition, her philosophy, that each client is an individual with a unique learning style, results in her ability to help each horse and client to connect to the power of their own potential.
Barbara's goal is to represent the USA at International venues such as the Pan Am Games, World Cup, World Equestrian Games and ultimately the Olympic Games. As with most high-level athletic endeavors, funding and sponsorship are of the utmost importance in order for a seasoned athlete to attain her goals.
To accomplish these goals, Barbara must acquire the top Equine Athletes needed to qualify for these competitions and she must consistently train and campaign these athletes so that they are ready for the necessary qualifying competitions.
Funding and sponsorship not only will help Barbara cover the financial expense of meeting these goals, but it will also allow her the mental focus needed to reach the highest level of her sport.
