249th Engineer Battalion Monument
Donazione protetta
The 249th Engineer Combat Battalion contributed immeasurably during World War II, with a famous river crossing of the Rhine that is credited to shaving months of combat from this global conflict. This fund will assist to offset the $22,000 construction cost of a monument that is to be located at Nierstein, Germany that will immortalize and celebrate this historic event.
Today, the 249th Engineer Battalion is one of the most versatile units in the U.S. Army. Over the last several years, it provided emergency electrical power to the citizens in the United States following the devastation of Hurricanes Katrina, George, Ivan, and Super Storm Sandy -- to name just a few. It has also been in harms way throughout our Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan providing power to Coalition Bases as wells as the grateful citizens of Iraq and Afghanistan.
As a Former Battalion Commander of this proud unit, I am, today, representing the 249th Engineer Combat Battalion Association to help raise funds for this project and I am reaching out to my friends, veterans and colleagues for assistance.
I am thankful for contributions of any amount that will get us closer to our project cost of $22,000. This is a great way to celebrate the efforts of what Journalist Tom Brokaw called, “The Greatest Generation” as well as the current members of the Battalion, who are clearly the “Next Greatest Generation.”
Thank You,
Paul B. Olsen
