Withington! Vote for April this May
URGENT APPEAL - WITHINGTON WARD LIBERAL DEMOCRATS
We need your help to raise £600 for our campaign this month.
Manchester Council has 96 councillors. Currently 95 of them are from one party. A council chamber this skewed towards one party is bad for the city and bad for the residents. The roads need better infrastructure, homelessness is on the rise and the city is being gentrified at an astonishing rate all at the expense of local residents.
Withington Ward Liberal Democrats are campaigning hard ahead of this year's local elections in May. Withington Ward has traditionally been a Liberal Democrat stronghold. This May we are determined to win back the seat. Successful campaigns are built on enthusiasm from generous donations. This is why we have setup this appeal.
All money raised will directly fund our grassroots campaigns that will challenge the status quo of Manchester Council, emphasising the need to scrutinise and alert you to when the council have let us down.
Withington Ward Liberal Democrats will strive to put community back into the Council and with your help we will be able to challenge officials that neglect our beloved city.
Our candidates in this year's elections are: April Preston, and Alex Warren.
April Preston was the first spokesperson for Stockport Young Carers and has been passionate activist from the age of 10 and continues to campaign on a wide on a wide range of issues from mental health to children leaving care. April is also a is a trustee of Autistic Association of Greater Manchester, she has campaigned to repeal Section 28, and against the Iraq war. April has also argued against the council's treatment of our homeless and chaired events fighting for a more diverse and tolerant society.
In 2014 the Minehead community centre tragically burnt down, the local councillors failed to act. After tirelessly campaigning for the Council to address the issue; April was successful in 2016, by forcing Manchester Council to admit their refusal to replace the services available in the much-loved community centre. Still to this day no replacement services have been offered to local community.
If elected, we will continue to ask these fundamental questions and be a voice for the
We have campaigned against rogue landlords and as a councillor and has called for HMO licence rules to apply to all landlords, not just to large houses.
Alex Warren, the youngest of the three candidates has dedicated much of his life to fighting against cuts to the vulnerable and working on the campaign 'make votes matter'. He also volunteers on a weekly basis helping Manchester's homeless.
If elected, we will fight to:
-GIVE POWER TO THE PEOPLE diverting budgets to local residents to spend.
-CLEAN UP: Both air pollution and litter. Get funding for air pollution trackers and insure streets are kept clean.
-BOBBIES ON THE BEAT: Push Andy Burnham to commit to spending his Mayoral tax rise on more police.
-OWN MORE HOMES: Build new and affordable housing NOT unaffordable luxury developments pricing out local residents of Withington and Ladybarn.
And above all:
PUT COMMUNITY BACK INTO COUNCIL!

A private donation of £100 meaning I’m a third the way there and it’s 24hours! Please keep sharing and commenting so we can meet this deadline. What a day to commemorate #100votes than to donate to women building up their council wards for successes in May.
