Down Syndrome & Craniosynostosis

Samuel or " Mr. Muels" as we call him is 8 1/2 months old and was recently diagnosed with both Down Syndrome and Craniosynostosis. That means that the sutures in Samuel's skull were fused at birth. They normally do not fuse until around 2 years old. That restricts his brain growth and can lead to developmental setbacks if not treated. Samuel is seeing a team of doctors and surgeons in the next couple of days. Samuel's primary doctor has never even heard of a child having both Down Syndrome and Craniosynostosis.
Due to the Craniosynostosis Samuel will have to have surgery soon to open his skull to allow brain growth. Samuel's family lives in Malta, Montana which is a very small town without access to the care he needs. This young family of five, "Samuel has two older sisters; Athena Nicole (5) and Patricia Anne (3)" are going to have to make multiple, sometimes over night trips to Great Falls, MT which is a city 402 miles round trip or 7 hours with all three of the kiddos for pre-op appointments; and then a week or two stay for the surgery at the Children's Hospital in Seattle .
This is a young family just getting started in life really, and they were not prepared for this news, and life changer for their son. A Down Syndrome Specialist is coming out 4/14/16 to do an in home evaluation for speech, occupational and physical therapies; so they are definitely covering all their bases on this life long journey.
We are trying to raise money to help pay for the travel expenses and road trip motel stays needed for his care. As it stands they don't have a date for surgery because he must first see a cardiologist and neurologist on April 18th, before he can be cleared for surgery. We will update with more info as we find out more about his condition.
