Our cat Kasie, URGENTLY needs your help!
On Tuesday night (24th of October), Kasie suddenly and unexpectly became very unwell. She looked very lethargic and uncomfortable, had a glazed look in her eyes and was off her food which she normally goes crazy for!
We called the vet straight away and were told it wasn't an emergency and could wait till morning! When they saw Kasie in the morning, they confirmed it was indeed an emergency and took her in. They originally suspected feline diabetes and a complication to diabetes as her glucose was very high and she had ketones in her urine. They immediately put her on a drip and gave her some insulin. Her glucose levels stabilised and they said we could take her home the next day.
On Thursday (26th of October), moments before we were due to pick Kasie up, we received a call from the vet saying we could no longer bring her home, as though she had previously been eating, she had since stopped again, which meant they needed to do some more tests.
Cutting a long story short, she hasn't eaten since and is still on IV fluids and ketones remain in her urine, which is life-threatening. They have now ruled out diabetes but cannot find a cause for her symptoms.
She therefore needs to be urgently referred to a specialist for further IMMEDIATE testing to find the cause of her illness and hopefully save her life! According to the vet, without treatment, she will sadly pass away within a week or so.
Kasie is a big part of our little family, we love her so very much and are utterly devastated at the prospect of losing her. She has been with us for 9 and 1/2 years (since a kitten) and has a twin sister, Lexie, who is very stressed without her sister around, and doesn't know why she isn't here. She has started biting her fur off around her tail, which is a clear sign she is distressed.
