Isabella's Story

My name is Lauren Taylor - I'm 30 years old and have worked as a Registered Nurse for most of the last decade. Until a few months ago I was just your average woman; I was due to have my first baby at the beginning of May 2015 and was genuinely over the moon. On the 12th of February 2015 my daughter Isabella Grace was in severe foetal distress and after some hours was born by emergency cesarean. She was born at 29 weeks gestation and weighed only 1200 grams. She required extensive medical treatment to survive and endured 9 long weeks in hospital before weighing 2200 grams and being able to come home. Unfortunately more recently Isabella has been diagnosed with dystonic cerebral palsy due to lack of oxygen to her brain during her delivery; it is a life long and permanent condition that is incurable. There are interventions and treatments that are benefitting children with cerebral palsy (such as; the Gillette centre) from all over the world; unfortunately they cost a lot of money and the appointments for the paediatricians, neurologists, physiotherapists, ots, speech pathologists just to mention a few are endless. More than anything I wish I could make Isabella better..that isn't possible so my next wish is to give Issy the best possible chance at receiving the best treatments in the world..so that she can have the best opportunity at succeeding with the hand that she's been dealt. Feeling helpless and watching your child suffer in any form is the cruelest pain imaginable. If possible I will use any money raised for treatment for Isabella and for travel to take her to the best specialists possible, for the best therapies and equipment that money can buy. If you can spare a dollar please help us..please help me help my daughter the only way left I know how. My aim is to eventually get her into Gillette; I know it's a massive shot!
