At just two years old, he's got a whole life ahead of him to recover and get back into his energetic habits.

<div>In early November Drew began to feel sick. For 10 days he stayed home in and out of bed trying to recover. After increasingly difficult days he realized he was getting worse, and medical attention was needed. Drew was admitted to the hospital with COVID pneumonia. Soon after he was moved to the ICU.   After 13 days of fighting to get his body well, his lungs were not strong enough to help him recover. Drew decided with his doctors that a ventilator would be the next step. Drew understood a ventilator was needed to help him rest and let his body heal.

<div>Drew supported the decision to be on a ventilator and he has 100% confidence in his Doctors and Nurses. He has complete trust in their knowledge, experience, and abilities to help him heal and return to good health. He fully understood all the other treatment options available and made a decision he felt was best for his situation. Expectations are he will stay on the ventilator in the ICU as his lungs heal. Once he is breathing on his own he will remain hospitalized for rehabilitation to regain strength and mobility. He will then be healthy and ready to return home to breathe the fresh sea air from his home in San Clemente.<br /><br />

Drew Brophy Needs Your Help To Heal And Be Healthy

Our good friend and operating engineer took a nasty fall on his bike after hitting a deer on the way into work last Monday morning. He received a few nasty injuries including a severed thumb and broken collar bone which he received a plate in surgery to secure. Let’s support him in his time of healing and make sure he gets the time off he needs to fully recover. I’ve known James since 2006 and have worked side by side for many years since. One of 12s top hands always in a harness and a hell of a operator. I know he’d do the same for me and has for many others in times of need. HELL YA! Gotta get that famous laugh back in the yard. We are devastated and in shock.  We are waiting for Michael to come home from Ohio and will be making arrangements to for burial and last good byes as we’re his last wishes and the wishes of our children. We are hoping we will be able to do this for him and them.  Thank you in advance. When rescuing a dog,  you have to be prepared for any and all health complications that may occur.  Lauren rescued Sunny from the side of the road in Tijuana, MX and in the short 2.5 years that Lauren has had him, Sunny has had multiple strokes of bad luck. <br /><br />In April 2020, Sunny was at Kate Sessions Park and while chasing a ball rapidly down the hill, he tripped and badly hurt himself. This led to many expensive vet visits with multiple veterinarians and specialists, many of whom could not figure out what was wrong with his leg.<br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/54113750_1611335673847265_r.jpeg" alt="54113750_1611335673847265_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br />Finally, last week, a vet diagnosed Sunny with a torn CCL, or Cranial Cruciate Ligament. This injury has been extremely debilitating for him and Sunny constantly walks with a limp, making his quality of life poor. It's difficult for him to go potty, walk, run, sit, jump, etc; basically everything and anything that is essential in a dog's life and brings him joy. <br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/54113750_1611343916385567_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="54113750_1611343916385567_r.jpeg" /><br />During the months after his initial injury, Sunny had more strokes of bad luck. Not only was he suffering from doggy depression after his best friend Merlin was put down, he also had many trips to the vet himself for various reasons. During one of his walks, Sunny was bit by a venomous spider which resulted in a trip to the ER.  A week after that, our poor boy was struck by a car, which also landed him in the emergency room.<br /><br />Although Lauren had her heart set on taking care of her fur baby by herself, the accumulation of vet bills from the past year has hindered her financial ability to do just that. <br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/54113750_1611338454956423_r.jpeg" alt="54113750_1611338454956423_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br />Sunny is 2.5 years old and has so much more life to live and love to give. He is Lauren's baby. This surgery for a new knee is absolutely crucial to ensure Sunny’s quality of life is improved so he can live out the remainder of his days doing what he loves without the pain he is currently enduring. Sunny Needs A New Knee!

Hello all, <br /><br />Our sweet Merlin needs your help! The other day our gentle giant’s usual happy and playful demeanor was replaced with lethargy. Initially we chalked this up to the intense heat that San Diego has been experiencing, but quickly realized it was more serious than that when Merlin’s eyes and mouth began filling with blood. <br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/50788944_1598640267551149_r.jpeg" alt="50788944_1598640267551149_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br /><br />After multiple days at the emergency vet, the vet concluded that Merlin is suffering from thrombocytopenia, a blood disease where there is an alarmingly low amount to no platelets in the blood which control clotting, internal bleeding, and hemorrhaging.<br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/50788944_1598640196830724_r.jpeg" alt="50788944_1598640196830724_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br />The vet assured us that Merlin does not have a presence of cancerous cells and with proper care and treatment, the disease is manageable and Merlin can lead a healthy and happy life for years to come if he overcomes this battle.  <br /><br />Merlin is only half way through his expected life span and has so much more love to give, waves to jump in, and balls to chase.  Merlin is a great dane, which for those of you who are not well versed in dog breeds, is a massive breed (hence the gentle giant nickname).  Due to this, his medical bills are astronomically high and due to coronavirus his owner, Chris,  was laid off and does not have the income to cover this on his own and also does not have pet insurance to help alleviate some of the cost.  <br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/50788944_159864030331018_r.jpeg" alt="50788944_159864030331018_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br />Our Merlin is still at the vet who is working tirelessly and taking all measures to ensure Merlin stays stable.  With that being said, the already high vet bills are still building up with no end in sight yet. <br /><br />Please find it in your heart to donate and help bring our sweet Merlin home.  He exudes nothing but love to everyone he meets and he needs our help! <p>This is <strong>Amen Gabre</strong>, an amazing young woman from the Kafa region of Ethopia who recently wrote of her story in <strong><a href="http://www.abookbyme.com/human-rights-series?lightbox=dataItem-iy7h4u851" target="_blank">"Plight of Ethiopian Girls"</a></strong> , part of <a href="http://www.abookbyme.com" target="_blank">A Book By Me</a> series.  I know Amen because she is graduating from <a href="http://scattergood.org" target="_blank">Scattergood Friends School</a> near Iowa City and I serve on their School Committee so I have the priviledge of seeing the students throughout the year.  <br /><br />Amen has been in the U.S. for two years attending high school thanks to generosity of others.  But though she will have a diploma from Scattergood, if she returns to Ethopia she cannot attend college there because public institutions will not accept a foreign diploma.  It almost goes without saying that<strong> without an Ethiopian diploma or a college degree her future becomes extremely limited. </strong><br /><br />The good news is that she has been accepted to <strong><a href="https://calvin.edu" target="_blank">Calvin College</a></strong> with a partial scholarship and has raised nearly the remainder of tuition.  <strong>What is needed now is the immediate tuition deposit due at the end of May!</strong>  Please help her raise the deposit and stay in this country to attend college.  <strong>Her dream is to become an attorney and return home to Ethiopia</strong> with a better chance of helping others.  To use her words ".<strong>..having a college degree will change my life, and affect the lives of those I choose to fight alongside back in my own community and around the world....I ask for your help getting through college humbly, and with respect.</strong>" <br /><br />We are humbly and respectfully asking for your help, and appreciate whatever comes!  </p>

While in the USA, Amen won first place in an essay contest in Iowa making us aware of a traumatizing experience in her childhood. As a child, she visited relatives in a small village where she witnessed four small girls being circumcised. She has never forgotten and has a burning desire to help. Today, this beautiful young woman wants to get a scholarship to become an attorney and work to help end this heinous tradition. She feels it's a human rights issue and a crime against the girls of Ethiopia. Her book entitled Plight of Ethiopian Girls tells her story. It is sure to educate people about this subject. Young illustrator Faith Mutum shares her beautiful art to this project and is proud to stand with Amen."<br /><br /></p>

<p>Hi friends!<br /><br />Thank you for being here!! If you haven't met us yet, we are Danny DeBlasio and Catherine Hart , cofounders of The YALL Art Project, a non-profit organization that brings a collaborative art process in photography and mural painting to communities in need of the arts. <br /><br />The name of our organization comes from You + All = YALL  which is at the heart of our collaborations.  Every individual is celebrated for their unique vision, but it takes all of us to create a masterpiece.  Our process begins with the students taking photographs and ends with a collective mural inspired by their images.  Each student will be given their own camera and guided through a series of exercises that will encourage them to find their authentic voice and individual self-expression.  After getting to know each other’s voices, perspectives, and ideas, the group will be challenged to collaborate on a mural inspired by the learning from their photographs, celebrating and incorporating both their differences and similarities forging a shared vision of the future.<br /><br />We have an amazing opportunity to bring The Yall Art Project to three amazing organizations in Thailand and Cambodia.  It is a dream come true to have been invited to lead this process in these communities and we need your help getting the Yall Art Project to these incredibly deserving organizations.  We will be living in and working with each of these communities for 6 weeks each.<br /><br /><a href="https://depdcblog.wordpress.com/about-us/" target="_blank"><strong>The Development and Education Programme for Daughters and Communities Centre in the Greater Mekong Subregion (DEPDC/GMS)</strong></a>  of Northern Thailand. This community-based organization currently works primarily to prevent and to protect children and youth from being trafficked into exploitative labour conditions.<br /><br /><strong><a href="http://www.volunt2thai.com/volunteer" target="_blank">Volunt2Thai Project - Volunteer to Thailand</a> </strong>, a learning and recreational center for disadvantaged children in Udon Thani, Northeastern, Thailand<br /><br />And <a href="http://dbk-art.com/en/" target="_blank"><strong>DBK Art</strong></a> : An Art village dedicated to developing Boeung Kak, Cambodia through the arts and community engagement.<br /><br />Your support will help us with our travel expenses and living expenses while abroad, but most importantly your support will go towards purchasing 15 cameras for our students and all the supplies for three complete murals.  But your dollar will continue to give after our projects are complete, as we will be setting up an online gallery with all the student photographs that inspired each mural for purchase with all the proceeds going back to each organization.<br /><br />Words cannot express how thankful we are to have your support. While it means the world to us to be able to lead these projects and spead joy through the collaborative arts, it means even more to these communities to participate in a process of this nature as their resources are limited. Community Art Projects in Thailand 

Friends and family are raising money to help out a special local family, Shannon and Reese Lewis, with medical expenses.  Reese and Shannon's 10 year old daughter, Abbey, suffered a medical emergency on December 9, 2015, where a blood vessel in her brain ruptured.  Unknown to the Lewis family, Abbey suffered from a condition called Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM).  Abbey underwent immediate brain surgery to stop the bleeding at Arnold Palmer Hospital where she remains today.  We are blessed that Abbey made it through the first surgery.  However, we know that Abbey has a long road to recovery ahead of her, including additional surgeries and expensive medical treatment.  Abbey's  family continues to stay by her side, missing time from work and incurring expenses for lodging and food.  <br /><br />Both Reese and Shannon have been civil servants for Volusia and Brevard counties their entire careers.  We are now hoping that the communities they have helped support will now help support them in their time of need.

 Lewis family medical expense fund

My best friend  Nancee Smith-Kerr was admitted to tri-city hospital in Oceanside, Ca yesterday. She has an aneurysm in her neck and a blood clot on her brain. They are keeping her comfortable with dilotted for the pain. They are trying to keep the pain at minimum for fear the blood clot on her brain will move and or rupture. She had 5 MRI's yesterday and they're waiting for the vascular surgeon to go in and see her for the aneurysm in her neck. The neurosurgeon is looking over the MRI results thoroughly to see what else is going on from the Lupus she was diagnosed with in the beginning of last year 2014. Her family has been struggling to stay a float since her health took a turn for the worst earlier this year.  They are in desperate financial need to help pay their mortgage,  utility bills, and food since she has not been able to work full time.  Their house may go into forclosure very soon. Any amount of money that is donated will help them out so much. David her husband is working 3 job's right now to try and keep up with everything. Her parents have passed away and she only has her sister and close friends to rely on for help.
