Just before Passover, our dear friend Laura Fehl suffered a tragic incident and went into cardiac arrest. Sadly, after several days in the ICU, Laura passed away Sunday evening on April 9. We have set up this fund to help with funeral expenses, medical expenses and all other expenses associated with this tragedy.

Julia has been building their own gardening company for the past two years in Chicago, Nurtured Roots Gardening.

Julia runs this business independently and has been relying on their old ford taurus to transport supplies, soil, and plants around the Chicago area to jobs while saving up for a proper pickup truck.

Regrettably, this old car has reached the end of its life. Without transportation, Julia's business is unable to function. Please chip in to help Julia's and their business get the truck they deserve!

Longtime and beloved Community Day School Middle School math teacher Lin St. Clair needs your help!

On the evening of Wednesday, June 20, he heard a knock on the door of his Bridgeville home during a severe rain storm around 8 p.m. from a neighbor telling him to move his car because flood waters were rising rapidly on their street. It was too late. The water was almost 2 feet high already from the flash flood. Soon, everything was lost on his first floor, where the water reached depths of nearly 5 feet, even climbing several steps toward his second floor. In addition to his car, he lost his washer and dryer. His Hot water heater. Furnace. Refrigerator. Stove. TV. Record player. His record collection. Dozens and dozens of treasured books. A basement full of tools. The pressure of the flood water was strong enough to lift off cabinet tops in his kitchen and topple over and destroy a china cupboard.

You can read more about the damage, the horrific and deadly flooding in Bridgeville last week, and an interview with Mr. St. Clair in this WPXI-TV news story.

Thankfully and most importantly, Lin is safe and sound. But he is facing a long and difficult road ahead without the benefit of flood insurance to restore his home so it is once again habitable and replace his lost possessions.

For so many years, Mr. St. Clair gave back to our children, his CDS family, and our community. Now, in his hour of need, please consider making a donation to help him find his way through this disaster.

If you’d like to make a separate contribution or have other offers of assistance (contractor help, appliances, etc.), please message me.
