For Salvador’s dad, this fundraiser is about honoring the final wish of a man who has spent his whole life working hard and showing up for his family. Salvador recently had to make the heartbreaking decision to approve his dad’s transition to end-of-life care. His dad has always been the kind of person who never made excuses. He provided for his family through every hardship, even after surviving multiple robberies and serious injuries while working. After the loss of his child and his older brother, he still found the strength to keep going and to comfort his family through their pain. Since 2015, as his health declined, Salvador has been his dad’s full-time caregiver, standing by him through bone infections, loss of mobility, blindness, kidney failure, dialysis, and so many other medical battles. Even through it all, his dad kept fighting with incredible strength. Now Salvador is trying to carry out his dad’s final request: to be sent home and buried next to his brother. The funds raised will help cover transportation and funeral costs so his dad can be laid to rest where he wished to be. Salvador is not someone who usually asks for help and is more often the first person to offer it, whether someone needs something built, car work, a wash, or landscaping. But at this painful time, any support would mean the world to Salvador and his family.
