 Dear Bergenfield Community and Beyond,
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 If there is one thing I know about Bergenfield, it’s that when one of our own needs us, we show up.

 Four years ago, so many of you showed up for Calvin Young when he was diagnosed with cancer in 8th grade. Our community surrounded Calvin and his family with love, prayers, and support during an unimaginable time. Thankfully, although Calvin still has some battles ahead, he is doing much better today. Now, I’m asking our community to show up for the person who has spent so many years showing up for everyone else, his incredible mother, Jacquelyn “Jackie” Teel. For the past four years, Jackie has carried more than most people realize. As a single mother, she has stood beside her son through his cancer journey while facing medical and financial challenges of her own. And somehow, through it all, she has continued to give so much of herself to others. Jackie is a mother, teacher, coach, and President of the Junior Football League but her impact goes far beyond those titles. She has touched the lives of countless children in our community. She has coached them, taught them, encouraged them, believed in them, and been there for them when they needed someone in their corner. For so many kids, Jackie has been more than a teacher or coach, she has been a mentor, a supporter, and someone who truly cares. Even during some of the hardest years of her own life, she never stopped showing up for our kids. Now, it’s our turn to show up for her.

 Any contribution, big or small, can help ease the financial burden Jackie is facing and allow her to focus on what matters most, her health, her son, and her family. If you are unable to donate, simply sharing this fundraiser can make a difference. Jackie has spent years lifting up our children and our community. Let’s remind her that the same community she has given so much to is standing behind her now. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for every donation, share, prayer, and act of kindness.

Community Support for Jackie Teel

 On Monday, August 10, 2026, a powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia. <strong>Our family was among those forced to leave their home as the shaking destroyed and severely damaged the place where they live.</strong>
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 In a matter of minutes, everything changed. They lost their home, many belongings, and the sense of safety our family once had. Right now, they are displaced, staying in temporary shelter while we try to figure out what comes next.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 <strong>We are asking for help to cover urgent needs: temporary housing, food, basic supplies, clothing, and the first steps toward rebuilding or finding a new place to live.</strong> Every contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward helping our family get back on their feet during this difficult time.
</div>
<div>

</div>
<div>
 If you are able to donate, we are deeply grateful. If you cannot donate, sharing this campaign would mean the world to us. Your support will help us begin to recover and move forward.

<div>
 Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Displaced by Colombia Earthquake – Please Help Our Family

My name is Jamie. I’m 34 years old, a single mom of three, and I’m fighting a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer. My youngest daughter has special needs and depends on me every day. My children are my whole world, and they are the reason I keep fighting. Cancer has taken away my ability to work and has filled my life with chemotherapy, surgeries, medications, and countless medical appointments. The financial burden has become more than I can carry alone. Today, I’m asking for help—not because it’s easy, but because I want the chance to keep being the mom my children need.
<br>
<br>
 Your donation will help cover my surgery, treatments, medications, nutritious food, and other essential expenses while I focus on healing. Every prayer and every share gives my family hope. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing with us during the hardest chapter of our lives.

 With love and gratitude, Jamie

Help Me Stay Here for My Children

<div>Thank you for visiting our fundraising page!

</div>

<div>We are excited to announce that we are adopting internationally from Colombia!

</div>

<div><br />
</div>

<div>We started the adoption process in March of 2021. However, we believe that God started the process way before we were even married. I, Sarah, landed a job in the foster care system in New York City after college. Before my experience there, I was aloof to foster care and/or adoption. The work was challenging but so rewarding.

</div>

<div>I grew to love the children and their families and dreamt of adopting one day.

</div>

<div><br />
</div>

<div>Years later, Naeem and I got married in 2014 and desired to grow our family.

</div>

<div>We had some challenges along the way. However, amid the challenging seasons, we were pressed with the desire to adopt in our hearts. We are <b>so </b>excited for God leading our family in this direction!

</div>

<div><br />
</div>

<div>International Adoption is a long and expensive process.

</div>

<div>We started our adoption journey back in March of 2021.

</div>

<div>But we're so grateful that we're now way over the halfway mark!

</div>

<div>Recently in mid-December of 2022, we were officially matched to adopt a 9-year-old girl.

</div>

<div>And as of Jan 30th, we have been officially approved by U.S. immigration to be her parents.

</div>

<div>We are now looking to raise funds to cover the next set of agency, travel, in-country and post-adoption fees by March 30th. We will be staying in Colombia for about 3-4 weeks sometime around April.

</div>

<div><br />
</div>

<div>We truly thank you all kindly for your love and support!
