Our 120 year old house was one of the first homes built in the Palmetto Beach area of Ybor City. For the last 20 years, it has been a home to our family and friends. It has been a warm, loving environment to numerous children. Not only our own children, but nephews, nieces and all their friends were always welcome. A safe place for our young people to come together, enjoying each other’s company and building bonds that will last a life time. Four children grew up in this house with all their pets (dogs, cats, reptiles, fish, etc.). Sometimes it felt more like Noah’s Ark then it did a house. But regardless, through the good and bad, this was our home and we loved it.
On February 8Th of this year,our home caught on fire and burned down due to electrical issues. All of us that were inside made it out safely and all of our pets are accounted for and healthy. Unfortunately, we lost everything else in that moment. Clothes, mementos, collectibles, keep sake from our children's past. All of the moments caught on film, art projects that had been completed, first lockets of hair that were cut, are now memories in our mind that we will hold dear to our heart. Due to the age and the unfortunate condition of an 80 year old slat roof, it had become impossible for us to get home owners insurance without paying more than our monthly income could support.
We are now spread out across the city. Some of us are with other family members. Some of us are staying in a hotel with a few of the family animals. Credit is stretched and money is beginning to run low. We have plans to rebuild on the land, but our first hurdle is knocking down the house and clearing the land. We are also in the process of finding the right intuition to assist us in obtaining financing to rebuild our walls and in turn our lives.
As sever health issues are curtailing our ability to do this on our own, we respectfully ask for any help you can give, even if it’s only a dollar. We realize that the economy is still experiencing growing pains and money is tight for all. Any amount of assistance would be greatly appreciated and used to take the steps needed to securing our future. Please, most importantly, remember us in your prayers. We will need the guidance, faith and love to help us through this difficult time.
