Spreading Happiness

Donation protected

First a small introduction, our names are Robbie and Alejandra, from Ireland and Spain. After graduating university and working for a time in our respective countries we decided to leave and to do something different. To travel the world and experience everything we possibly can, working and travelling in a number of different countries over many years. Since we met while on the road we have discovered that we share the same dream and we have inspired each other to do everything possible so that we can live our dream.

One morning we went to see the sun rise and after hearing lions roar and having seen the splendid colours Africa has to offer we found ourselves in a little village called Malone and spent the day chatting and sharing ideas with the local people that were waiting around for piece work. We both realised in this moment that we would both love to be able to do something to help these people but also had the sobering thought of 'What can we do?' We knew then that we needed to find a way to spend our lives together living our dream. We want our lives to be filled with ultimate life changing experiences every day. We want to spread happiness to the world and help others realise their dreams too. We meet a lot of people while travelling, disadvantaged people, people from remote villages, good people, people with dreams, people with ideas, people where if you could give a little, it could go a long way. People that don't have access to the big charities or N.G.O.'s. It could be a man who dreams of starting a business to support his family or to send a talented child to a good international school. We would like to help in some way with wildlife conservation and small sustainable development projects, even something simple like a vegetable garden for a small village. We want to buy shoes for the homeless to make them smile. It could be as simple as buying a meal for for a hungry person or as complex as bringing water to remote areas or even help out with medical facilities or vaccines. We want to go deep into isolated villages and learn about how they live and when we find a good cause, help however way we can. We're talking about helping real people with real everyday problems, people who don't have access to media who we can help at grassroots level.

This is where you come in. Doing simple calculations, we will never be able to fund this life with our means. We are not an organisation who have set plans and targets so we know it will take a huge leap of faith on your part but we just want to keep travelling the world and with your help we can possibly do more and spread love and kindness to the people who need it most. We would like to start with Madagascar and continue through Africa, to Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of Congo and hopefully onwards. Places that can be difficult to reach that don't get many visitors. Our dream is of love, incredible experiences, making people smile and sharing our passion to the thousands of people we meet around the world. To make our dream reality we think that we would need approximately $100,000 per year. With this amount we can start by accomplishing some good projects, although obviously by raising more we can widen our goals and begin to achieve more.

Our first destination, Madagascar suffers from a multitude of problems including:

Chronic malnutriton – 47% of children under 5 yrs are affected nationwide. Feeding a school of 580 for 60 days would cost approximately $750, which in turn will increase attendence if meals are provided.

11.7 million people have no access to safe drinking water and over 2,100 children die each year from diarrhea caused by unsafe drinking water and poor sanitation. As a rough guide, the cost of sinking a 30m borehole can be between $500 and $3,500.

Natural disasters – Madagascar is the 5th most cyclone prone country in the world. It suffers 3-4 cyclones per year, destroying many homes, schools, and healthcare facilities. We propose to help with the cost of any rebuilding work neccessary.

Education – In many rural areas there is no access to schools, leading to a future with little prospect for the children. A large multi building school can be built for $15,000.

Poverty – 70% of people live below the poverty line on less than $1.25 a day. Even a simple gesture of offering a sack of rice or some clothing can go a long way.

We believe that helping people directly can have a huge impact and that it can be a very personal experience on all sides but in the event that we do not receive sufficient funds to start out on our goal, all money will be donated to a local Madagasy charity. We are so excited about this new adventure and truly truly believe that we can make this happen and make a difference in peoples lives.

Yours sincerely

Robbie and Alejandra
