David has signed up for the 2017 City to Surf on Sunday 13 August, tackling the gruelling course in a bid to raise awareness about Australia’s second leading cause of death - dementia.
I’d never realised what a terrible condition dementia is until I experienced it. My wife, Philomena, developed vascular dementia nearly four years ago when she was 75. She is now totally incapacitated; unable to care for herself and sadly can no longer speak.
David’s race day contribution will raise funds to support dementia care.
David will donate funds raised to support the good work of Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT) and their dementia care activities.
