Slaying Greg Boehmer's Monster

Donation protected
Greg Boehmer was recently diagnosed with the Stage IV brain cancer glioblastoma.  The abbreviation for glioblastoma is GBM, so in keeping with his sense of humor he has taken to calling it Greg Boehmer's Monster.

We started this path in July with Greg having a seizure. This led to the discovery of his brain tumor in September and brain surgery in October. Unfortunately, this also led to his diagnosis of glioblastoma.

Greg has recovered remarkedly well from surgery and we’re in the prepare for the next battle stage. We are at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Greg has met with his neuro-oncologist and radiologist. We feel truly blessed to be here because we feel that he has the very best medical team.

The next battle starts this Thursday, November 15. Greg will start a combination of radiation and chemo that has been planned specifically for him. These treatments will be administered at Mayo for 30 business days, ending December 28.  This means Greg and his wife Annie will be staying here in Rochester for the next 8 weeks.

When they return home at the end of December, Greg will have a month to build up his strength and prepare for the next battle. This will be a combination of chemotherapy and Optune therapy (aka tumor treating field therapy). This will mostly be done at home over a period of 6-12 months, with visits to Rochester every 6-8 weeks to see his doctors.

Greg is doing pretty well. He’s a little overwhelmed with all the information, but he’s keeping a very positive attitude!

We are asking for funds to help cover living expenses while Greg and Annie are living in Rochester for the next two months and for when they visit in the future as well as for covering out of network medical expenses.  Greg is on a path and these funds aren't going to make the difference in his health care; we are going to make sure he gets the help he needs no matter what. What these funds will do is help make the lives of Greg and Annie slightly easier and slightly less stressful as they battle this disease over the following months and years.  If you aren't able to donate we also appreciate people sending thoughts, prayers, well wishes or math puns!
