Shalom Animal Rescue Airlift

Donation protected

My name is Jeffrey Johnson and I currently work in Durham and live in Sanford, NC. My wife and son remain in the Golan Heights, Israel, with our rescued animals (currently 57 cats and dogs).  We are seeking to tell our story to secure help to bring our family together again.

We moved to Israel during the war (Operation Protective Edge, July, 2014). We had no idea nor were we told how hard it would be to live as a family. As much as we love the struggles of living in Israel, our family wellbeing is such that we cannot continue to live in Israel and be safe. The escalation of conflicts in the West Bank and Syria has placed our family in a very precarious situation. The serious lack of any employment for new immigrants is a real problem. August 3rd, 2015, I travelled back to the USA to work and assist my family in their wellbeing and get them home. We were broke.

We began Shalom Animal Rescue almost immediately upon buying our home in the North. So many animals were being abused, abandoned, poisoned, tortured, and relocated; we immediately used our love for animals to save as many as we could in the Golan Heights and the Galilee. Shalom Animal Rescue has rescued and cared for more than 200 animals but due to shortage of funds, unwillingness of the government to enforce the laws and assist in the treatment and care of animals, we need to bring the remaining animals back to the USA. This is the largest such airlift from Israel in their history.

My wife is panicked and I need assistance in securing their immediate move back to the USA.  I have reached out to the President Obama, Prime Minister Netanyahu, Donald Trump, Ambassador Daniel Shapiro, and John Kerry. Therefore, I am placing our story in the public domain to secure the $25,000 to 30,000 we need to get them home now. (El Al airlines is the only airline that can accommodate our airlift unless someone offers private transport)

I am the manager at Guardian Logistics in Durham and send 80% of my wages to Shoshanah to care for the animals and pay the bills. Due to the cost of living being almost 400% more than the USA, we cannot sustain our lives in Israel any further. Shalom Animal Rescue is costing us more than $3,000 per month. The house we purchased and made into the animal rescue is being sold for $213,000 but this sale typically takes about 3-4 months to close. We will clear about $80,000 when all the bills are paid.

Whether it is a loan, public funds, government assistance, GOFUNDME, I need help to bring my family and our animals safely back to the USA. I am available as my wife is, at any time to discuss anything that will assist our family being together safely again. Thank you for any help you can offer us.
