THE STORY:
In 2014 when I first told my friends and family that I was starting an online fundraiser campaign for my Catholic HipHop music video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAIoKIZ0Pms) they looked at me like I was crazy, so you can imagine their reaction when I told them I was doing it again—VERY excited for the finished product to be delivered.
But in all seriousness, it is not the lukewarm souls on the streets of New York or the cool people I get to meet during the fundraising process that motivates me. The positive impact Catholic HipHop has in New York is that with over 8,000,000 Catholic and non-Catholic New Yorkers someone is guaranteed to believe just a little bit more after listening to the music I worked so hard at creating, and being able to contribute to the increase of faith is my motivation as well as the promise of Jesus’ Divine Mercy for all mankind. '
Attending mass as a young adult, passionately referred to as the “old person lifestyle”, can been a tad bit discouraging when you realize you are one of the many few young adults in attendance. However, it is much easier when you are reminded by a particular song that you are not the only young adult who loves Jesus, and likewise passing up that secular lifestyle is a little easier when I think of all of the young souls I can help stay the course of God’s will for them through Catholic HipHop.
SN: I was in mass one Sunday evening with my daughter (1 of 4 children) and I noticed less than half-way through the mass that the people were not sitting and standing on queue, the priest began to instruct the parish to sit or stand. I was bothered by that so I moved up to the front row seat and began leading the parish in that notion. At the end of mass a woman approached me and said: "Excuse me, can I ask you a question? Why are you soo Catholic?" I didn't know what to say obiously but I uttered the words; aren't we all?
I feel extremely blessed to participate in this mission to recourse souls to the fountain of Jesus’ Divine Mercy.
This project is my 2nd online campaign project and similar to the first successful fundraiser, (https://gofund.me/Rabelzthemc?pc=tw_cr_n)
this project is to provide my audience with a visual experience so that they may have content that goes beyond audio.
