Our Mum's fight to beat Cancer!

Donation protected
Hi,

This is our story about our beautiful Mum Lorraine.

Just over 18 months ago we got told that our Mum had been diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer.  To say we were all devastated was an understatement , we were heartbroken and terrified.  The prognosis our mum had been given was for the most part grim, and from the outset we were told that there was unlikely to be a cure.  Her only real chance was a liver resection, but this was dependent on the cancer being confined only to one side of the liver (which it was) and what we thought was a 'successful' 6 months chemotherapy programme to reduce the tumours.

Chemo was hard and scary to watch and even harder for our mum to go through! It’s true though what they say about a mothers determination and strength, she did brilliantly, never complained and tried as much as possible to remain upbeat throughout.  To everyone’s surprise and amazement when she had her final scan, we were relieved to hear that the tumour had reduced enough and as a result was operable.  We honestly couldn’t believe it, we actually had a chance at beating this!

Here is where we wish we could tell you our happy ending, but unfortunately for our Mum and us this was not the case.  During the surgery not only were there complications outside of the cancer, but more cancer was found on the right side of the liver, which meant nothing could be removed.  So after everything our Mum had gone through, all the fight she had put up with, the cancer had won and had to just be left there living inside of her! Again we were devastated; again we were being told nothing could be done; again we found ourselves back at square one and worse Mum was being given less than 18 months to live at the age of 54; but WE were not willing to give up!  We researched and found a treatment called SIRT.  SIRT is a localized radiation treatment and was being trialed on Liver Cancer, we just needed Mum to be a viable candidate and thankfully she was.  Mum begun SIRT treatment earlier this year and whilst it alone was successful on the tumours it was directed at , the cancer had on the rest of the liver got worse.  Her liver is now housing more than 20 tumours!

Today mum, who is an inspiration to us all and looks remarkably well (that’s the irony about liver cancer, the signs are not there until they’re there and it’s too late) remains fighting for her life. The doctors here in the UK have confirmed nothing more than chemo can be offered, but neither our Mum, us or her family are willing to accept this.  Again we have researched and researched our options and are aware that there are other procedures and medication that can be offered. Unfortunately none of these are available on the NHS or available in this country.  Which has lead us to creating this fundraising page for a specific treatment we would like her to have.  This treatment is at the Bio Medical Centre in Mexico and is run by the Hoxsey Clinic (http://www.hoxseybiomedical.com/clinic-information ) and really is our last hope. The programme of treatment they offer is based on natural herbs, remedies and tonics and has an 80% success rate of curing cancer.  Through this page and hopefully your kind and generous donations, we want to raise enough money so that we will be able to offer Mum this alternative treatment and give her a chance at extending her life and her time with us all.  Based on conversations with the clinic, including travel, insurance etc we need to raise somewhere in the region of 20,000+ depending on her first initial visit as it could work out more. Not a massive amount in the grand scheme of things, but this is something we unfortunately cannot do alone!

We are hoping that our Friends, Family, Neighbours, Friends of Friends and anyone who is willing to, can help us raise the funds to ensure that we can do the best we can for our Mum! She is determined to beat this and we are determined to do what we can for her but we need a little helping hand.

At the age of 54 our Mum has still got so much to live for, a loving husband, four beautiful daughters, a granddaughter and another grandchild on the way, who would love to meet their nanny.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story about our Mum, Wife, Nan, Daughter, Sister and Friend.

PLEASE SHARE our story to as many people as possible in order for us to reach our goal.

Thank you so much for any support that you can give us during this really hard time. From the bottom of our hearts, it is really and truly appreciated.
