On Monday, May 15th, 2019, Mom had a cardiac appointment at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. We anticipated some cardiac testing, but were surprised when her physician gave us the news that she needed to be admitted as there were complications noted in her Echocardiogram. Mom's aortic heart valve, which was a bovine valve that was placed in a previous open heart surgery in 2013, is not working properly. On the imaging it shows that the aortic valve is too small. The valve will need to be replaced before mom leaves the hospital. Aside from this, mom has two coronary (heart) arteries that may need to be bypassed. Her valve replacement and double bypass will be done in open heart surgery at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. On top of the worries that are tied with open heart surgery come a financial burden. Mom has expressed her concerns about insurance bills for her surgery and other testing that is needed. We would like to help alleviate these worries so she can focus on her medical needs.
