On Saturday, February 9 th 2019, Marie Blume was involved in a serious skid steer accident while working with her parents and siblings remodeling their home.  Several long and uncertain hours followed the accident and many of us prayed that our heavenly Father wouldn’t call our sweet Marie home just yet. Our great and merciful Savior Jesus answered those prayers and has been working countless miracles on Marie’s behalf ever since. Marie suffered severe internal bleeding,
multiple abdominal injuries, a broken femur, broken pelvis and broken collar bone. So far, Marie has spent four full weeks in the hospital surrounded by an immensely talented team of doctors and nurses who are doing everything they can to make sure that she is able to make a full recovery. Marie’s mom seldom leaves her side and her Dad is only gone when he has to be. Both parents often spend long and uncomfortable nights in Marie’s room offering her the comforting
and encouraging words that she needs. Marie’s three sisters and two brothers anxiously await the day when their sister can come home.

Marie herself has remained calm, upbeat, tough, and determined throughout her time in the hospital. Those who know her well have assigned her the nickname of Mighty Marie. Her dad, a carpenter, would tell you, “she’s tough as nails.”  Marie’s friends and family members would describe her as strong, quiet, kind, positive, artistic and caring. She is a blessing to those she interacts with and those
who can’t be with her in the hospital find themselves missing her kind heart and warm smile.

Since the accident, we have all witnessed many, many miracles as Marie has begun to heal. We serve a gracious and mighty God who hears our prayers and loves us enough to answer them. Further, our families have been blessed with a vast network of friends, relatives and Brothers and Sisters in Christ; prayer warriors who have been lifting Marie up and laying her at Jesus’ feet. Many have sacrificed their time and talents to make meals, babysit, or provide for the transportation needs of Marie’s siblings. Some have even felt called to help out financially. Thank you all for your sacrifices, prayers, and support through this challenging time.

Reluctantly, Marie’s parents have asked that a gofundme page be set up on her behalf as an avenue for financial giving. While it is humbling and uncomfortable to accept donations from others, it is nevertheless, not right to refuse assistance and withhold the blessing of giving from those who feel called to give financially. To that end, we are providing this avenue to the many generous souls that have asked how they can give or where they can send money. We can’t stress enough that any fundraising goal associated with Marie’s page is simply arbitrary and
should be promptly ignored. As Marie’s parents focus their time, efforts, and energy on caring for Marie, they are thankful for those of you who feel called to give and are grateful for any assistance, whatsoever. Funds given on Marie’s behalf might be used to help pay medical bills, provide for the basic needs of Marie’s siblings, or even help fund the completion of the remodel of the family home.

Thank you so much for the prayers, support, cards, and encouragement during this challenging time. We pray that God will richly bless each one of you.

In Christ,
The Schwab and Blume Families
