In Memory of Marble Rye

Donation protected

One of our students in the San Marcos High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) has been raising Marble Rye,  a Boer goat.  Being a breeding goat rather than a meat goat, the student paid $500 for the animal, plus feed and supplies for the past several months.  This past weekend, a pack of coyotes jumped our 6 foot chain link fence, killed the goat, and took most of it back over the fence.

The student is devastated.  She was very attached to the animal, and planned to keep it for her remaining years in high school, earning money by breeding the animal and selling the litters.  Now she has no income, and has to pay back the loans she took.  She would also like to purchase another animal to pursue her project.

The game wardens have toured our facility, and gave several suggestions for how we can prevent another attack.  Unfortunately, most of the improvements will take a significant amount of money, which we don't currently have.  The students are very worried about their animals, as we have many more at the facility which are now all at risk.  The kids have several fundraisers planned for the remainder of the year, but really need outside help.  Anything would be MUCH appreciated!

Thank you in advance, and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me thru the GoFundMe page.
