Love You, Bridget

Bridget was diagnosed with both thymoma cancer and Myasthenia Gravis in December 2012 and melanoma in 2017. She was forced to leave her job to fight her fights. For those of you that have never heard of Myasthenia Gravis, or MG, it's a long term neuromuscular disease that leads to varying degrees of muscle weakness. The most commonly affected muscles are those of the eyes, face, and swallowing. It can result in double vision, drooping eyelids, trouble talking, and trouble walking. Onset can be sudden. Those affected often have a large thymus gland or develop a thymoma. In short, it's a terrible autoimmune disease that attacks various muscle groups. It makes the simplest of things incredibly difficult, like breathing, swallowing, and even keeping her head up and eyes open extremely exhausting. Bridget has endured open-heart surgery to remove the bulk of the thymoma cancer, chemotherapy, radiation, iron transfusions, countless tests/scans, medications, plasmapheresis treatments, and hospital visits. She is left physically drained, seeking the refuge of her bed on the daily. Her family is also exhausted watching and worrying about Bridget each day. Her husband Danny and she work together to keep financial burdens masked from their three incredible and active children. Combined, the kids activities cost close to $5000 annually; Cooper 8 is a Boy Scout and attends Greyson Elementary, Maddie 12 is a seasoned dancer at The Dance Place and attends Mason Middle School and Abby 16, is a Junior on Waterford Mott’s Cheer Team.
