Love and Support for the Williams Family

Donation protected
For many years, our brother-in-law, Brian Williams has survived numerous health challenges, from a heart transplant when he was 15, to cancers, a stem cell transplant, and now kidney failure. Brian's high school sweetheart and our sister, Jenny has been by his side since 1992. This couple's love, faith and devotion inspire all of us each day.

Two days before Thanksgiving, Brian was receiving dialysis. His body crashed and he was taken by EMS to a nearby hospital. This was the same hospital he had he had been rushed to by EMS overnight from their home just two weeks prior, resulting in a diagnosis of congestive heart failure. This diagnosis was especially devastating to the family, as Brian had been living with a healthy transplanted heart for 28 years. With the most recent event, he had to be intubated and spent four days on the ventilator. The first few days in the Critical Care Unit were very scary, but then he started to improve quickly and was discharged after a total of nine days in the hospital. The experiences have been traumatic for the family, particularly for Brian and Jenny’s 9 year old son, Jacob who idolizes his dad and missed him so much.

While his turnaround is inspiring and initial heart biopsies and tests show no rejection and therefore a chance for his heart to recover, the path ahead holds multiple surgeries, ongoing dialysis, many tests and medications, and travel for further treatment. At this time, Jenny is working a reduced schedule in order to be at doctor appointments and to train to run Brian’s dialysis machine at home. Once returning to work, Brian will be limited in what he can do, especially as his immune system is significantly suppressed and illness or infection could quickly land him back in the hospital.

Many friends and family members have asked how they can help and if there is any fundraising effort to contribute to. Throughout all these years of medical concerns and significant costs, Brian and Jenny have managed their expenses, taking on debt at times, but doing it on their own. At this time, we know they could use your support. If you are in a position to give and feel led to do so, please know that your donation will bless this family, relieving some stress and anxiety, and allowing them to focus on healing and the road ahead.

Whether or not you are in a position to help financially, we ask that you please keep Brian, Jenny, and Jacob in your prayers as they hope and pray that Brian’s heart will recover enough to support a successful kidney transplant in the near future. If his heart does not recover, please join us in praying that a heart-kidney transplant is an option for Brian. This family’s strength and comfort comes from faith. Your love and prayers make a difference.
