I am Lydia's aunt and trying to help get financial support for my family during this difficult time. During this time, not only will she be in Children's Hospital for a while, my sister & brother-in-law are missing a lot of work to take turns being at the hospital with her. We appreciate any or all contributions you are able to give.
Lydia is currently in Children's Hospital in St. Paul receiving treatment for anorexia. She was scheduled to start inpatient treatment on Tuesday, but was deemed medically unstable to begin. Though frustrating at the time, we were told that she needed to be admitted into Children's in order to get her stable. Little did we know just how unhealthy she was. She is in a facility that keeps her constantly monitored. Her heart is currently very weak, beating only 30 - 35 times per minute. It has been described to us that her body is going into a 'hibernation' state, conserving what calories she has. She is slowly getting the nutrition that her body desperately needs as we start down a long road to recovery. She is very fragile, as she has taken herself to the point of near starvation. Since her heart is not functioning properly, that is the doctors first priority. We do not know how long this will take, but we are positive that she is currently in the facility that is best equipped to help her. She is kept very busy with daily therapy, crafts, activities, etc. She has good days and bad days, good hours and bad hours, good minutes and bad minutes. This is a slow process that is frustrating for all involved. We believe that God is in control of all of this, yet covet your prayers and support through the process.
