Updated: Hello, my name is Latoya, I am one of the founders of a project called the KERNE project. This project consists of a variety of platforms which are either online and offline.
These platforms are created to bring awareness in our communities. So far, we have recently launched our firsrt online platform "Kernepedia" (which is a free online encyclopedia written from the perspective of melanated individuals). This site was launched 10/01/2016.
In addition to launching Kernepedia, we also reconstructed the blogsite "Natural & Nappy ", and will be providing tips on enlightening beauty and hair care naturally. This transistion was officially launched 10/3/2016.
Septemember 2016, was also a very exciting time for our team, as we also have managed online discussion groups, Q&A chats, as well as our social platforms and dynamic educational memes. Regardless of how exicting all of this is, this is still too far from our mission on this project.
Due to the lack of community support, and have been unable to raise the funds to release an official publication (our original goal was October 2016). With that said, we are still moving to get Issue One on its way.

Why we are different? Our concept is to create a publication (both physical and digital) that will bring awareness to our community which will help move us to build a constructive future.
Our publication is unique, as it consists of interactive online applications users can use to learn more, as well as reach out for support with our additional online groups and classes.
Why are we raising money? We need assistance with the start-up costs for this publication. Costs for marketing, website hosting, printing publications, facilities to host study groups, production costs, etc. The amount we are raising will help us maintain basic operation costs for 3 to 6 months.
Why is this important? Our community is anxiously seeking a new direction, it is important to us (the KERNE Project) that we create a platform to support our community's needs. In this platform, we are providing new and upcoming artists a place to promote their talents, educating our community on wellness, spirituality, their legacy... as well as documenting important events.
