A Bucket List Wish

Hello friends and family! I have decided to create this fundraising account to help a friend make his dream a reality.

My dear friend, Jason Clement, was diagnosed with ALS in July 2015 at the young age of 44.  For those of you that are not familiar with the disease, ALS is a neurodegenerative disease that causes muscle weakness, paralysis and eventually results in respiratory failure. There is currently no cure and the life expectancy is 2-5 years with only 10% of those living beyond 5 years.

Jason was born and raised in Massachusetts and currently lives in Richmond, VA with his wife/best friend, Deborah.  Prior to his diagnosis, Jason was healthy and lived a very active life which included activities such as volleyball and golf. Over the past year however, Jason has lost strength in his hands and is also having problems with his speech. Needless to say, these symptoms have been a life changer for him and he can no longer engage in many of the physical activities that he is passionate about.

Jason is a die-hard Red Sox fan and has been since a very young age. He has attended countless games at Fenway Park and many other ballparks around the country.  One of Jason's dreams has always been to step foot on Fenway field and hang out with the team.

Through the good graces and kindness of the Red Sox Organization, we are going to be able to make his dream a reality.  Jason's sister-in-law, Ashley, has recently been in contact with the RSO  and after sharing Jason's story with them, they made an incredibly generous offer to host a pre-game event to honor Jason during a summer game at Fenway!!!!

Now that the game day is confirmed and the pre-game event is being coordinated by the RSO, we want to try to raise money to cover the travel costs for he and his wife. They have been faced with endless out of pocket medical expenses due to medications, doctor's visits and treatments to try to control his symptoms, making it challenging for them to afford leisurely travel.

While Jason can still walk and hold a beer...and while Big Papi is still playing (he is retiring after this season!), let's help get him up to Boston for this incredible opportunity!

Below are some pics of Jason with his wife, his sister-in-law and his insane Red Sox jersey collection. I also included a few websites below, in case you are interested in learning more about Jason  or about ALS.

Please forward the GoFundMe link to anyone that might be interested in donating, however PLEASE DO NOT SHARE THIS ON ANY SOCIAL MEDIA SITES (such as Facebook).

Although social media is an excellent way to reach a lot of people very quickly, this needs to be kept on the down-low.  Jason and Deborah have NO IDEA that we are planning all of this and we need to keep it that way.
Sharing this on Facebook could ruin the whole surprise.

I can't thank you enough for your consideration and donation!! This is going to mean the world to him!
