Inspired by Haiti

Hi, my name is Nina. I am an emergency room nurse who is passionate about helping others. In 2012, I spent a week in Haiti on a medical mission where I teamed up with American and Haitian allies to provide care to men, women, and children in Port-au-Prince, Leogane, Duffort, and Bel Air. I experienced the most joy and also the heaviest heartbreak when I spent time with orphans. They were the kindest children I had ever met who were living in conditions that are merciless to the privileged eye.

While taking care of my patients in Haiti, I teamed up with a translator named Wilfrid who holds great vision for his country. I am looking to partner with him to provide educational tools for the children of Haiti so they can learn and grow as much as they can. Based on my personal experience, efforts to send foreign monetary aid is often futile for many reasons. My plan is to purchase supplies and ship them to the necessary schools and orphanages. Wilfrid will be in charge of helping me ensure that the items get to the children.

Wilfrid functions as a translator at one of the primary schools, Ecole Foyer Antenor Firmin, as well as their educational consultant. The school is located in Port-au-Prince and currently has a principal, Michel Merci, and eight teachers: Joseph Mykencia, Nadine Valbrun, Augusma Emilienne, Florette Vincent, Joseph Francesseca, Danielle St. Juste, Bozil Miyana, Bethie Jean, and Jasmine Nocent.
