Help Joy's New Beginning

Cats:

Shimmy: White and Black Kitty
Joy: Brown Striped Tabby Kitty

Here in New York City, at a private school in Chinatown, there's three more unexpected participants living in the fenced-in yard: kitty cats!

Three cats lived together, sheltering in an unsettling slums-like underground basement, calling it "home" and often coming up for food and water. Shimmy was a very skinny and tiny cat. She was insecured, timid, sickly, and bullied all the time. What got her through the years was a friend who stuck by her, Joy. Joy, a friendly and lovable tabby cat would comfort Shimmy, headbutting her to show her affection. They were inseparable. Unlike Shimmy, Joy must have had human interactions when she was younger because she would run for "joy" when she hears someone familiar calling for her. She doesn't always want food, she wants company and love and would often purr so deeply while kneading the cement floor when you pet her! When approached, she showers her company with kisses, headbutts, and moews.

Unfortunately, Shimmy and the third cat suddenly
passed away, Shimmy's death due to the last freezing snow storm. Joy is now left alone.

Bright as Joy's eyes gets when she sees me, my sister or any of her other friends, it breaks my heart to see her out on the streets, living on the harsh streets of NYC without companion or love. Though she's not stepped away from her fenced-in area, recently she's made attempts to follow my sister and I as we were leaving, only to chicken out after a couple of steps. We wish she can have a real home, where there's comfort, warmth, love, and affection. Based on interactions with her for the past 3 years, transitioning her from where she is now to a permanent home with humans doesn't seem difficult.

My sister and I really want to give her all the care, love and attention she deserves. Please donate any amount you wish so we can provide her with vet care, adequate shelter, food, and care. Our first prority is to get Joy off the streets and seek basic medical care. We plan to provide Joy with a foster home and eventually find a permanent home for her when she is accustomed to being indoors.

We really appreciate your donations, so thank you from the bottom of our hearts. More updates to come...
