Help Somalia - Famine Relief

Most people are unaware of the current famine taking place in Somalia although its the largest humanitarian crisis in the history of the United Nations. Over 6.2 million people are at risk of dying and 2.9 million are in need of immediate assistance. In the 2011 famine, over 260 000 lives were lost...most of which were children. I am writing this, with hopes to inform the general public, as I believe that it is our jobs to do whatever we can to help our brothers and sisters in humanity in their time of need. I wanted to take this opportunity to ask that you all to join me in the efforts towards fighting the famine by using your voices to spread awareness and collecting donations.
In the past, I have been blessed with a few opportunities to visit my home country, each of which were bittersweet experiences. During this past July (my most recent visit), I was able to work alongside some nonprofit organizations to help raise awareness on issues relating to women's rights and the importance of childhood education in the city of Hargeisa. Currently, I am in contact with a few reliable nonprofit organizations, as well as have connections with a few Somali-Canadian representatives out there who are willing to assist and make sure the money I raise is put to good use.
With that, I have started this gofundme account as trusted platform to collect donations for Somalia. My goal is to raise at least $5,000 as soon as possible that that I can put towards helping those in urgent need. The aid will be used for providing food along with trucks filled with clean drinking water for multiple areas in the famine struck region. They will be distributed between the people who have lost livestock and have no access to help. I will be providing pictures/documents of all money transfer slips, as well as photos of the aid being put to good use. I will also keep track and post things such as locations, time/date of distributions and all other details related... this way you all will be able to follow along and directly see where the funds are going. My father will be dedicating time to work along side the organizations. The money will be sent to him through dahabshiil and given to the coordinators by him. After reaching my goal my plan is splitting the money between two organizations. The first being the one based in Hargeisa called The Somaliland Drought Committee which is a trusted nonprofit organization created by the current president. The second organization will be living well health centre in Mogadishu.
I know there has been a lot of past cases where people have unfortunately misused platforms similar to this for their own personal gain. I would like to take this time out to let you know that I am trying to keep this fundraiser as transparent as possible, as it is dear to my heart. If you could be so kind to donate any amount and spread awareness I would really appreciate it. Help be apart of the change by saving lives through with or voices and actions.
