Heidi Brice - GB IISA Ice Swimmer, PRIZE DRAW!

My name is Heidi Brice, and I am a  Welsh 22 year old student studying Geology and playing Waterpolo at Bristol University. I am proud to have been selected to represent Great Britain in the International Ice Swimming Association World Championship in Murmansk, Russia in March 2019. The IISA rules are that swimmers are only allowed to compete wearing a single FINA approved costume, swimming hat and goggles, and for a swim to be recognised the water needs to be 5 degrees or under. The air temperature in Murmansk will be about -20 degrees Celsius, and water temperature zero or below. I will be competing in the 1000m event as well as a shorter 100m breaststroke

This is my third ice swimming season, and I have competed all over the UK and also in Katowice, Poland in 2017 making the podium as apart of the World Cup circuit. Last year I successfully completed an Ice Mile in 4 degree water, one of the ultimate achievements in Ice Swimming. I am currently age group champion in the UK with the aim to make the podium in Russia.

As endurance ice swimming is a fairly new sport, the GB IISA board currently do not have funding to support swimmers entry/travel or visas to overseas events. As a student I don't currently have enough to self fund, and my parents are unable to cover the escalating costs due to personal circumstances.  I have set up this crowdfunding page  but with a difference - for every £1 donated, the donor recieves one entry into a prize draw. E.g £2 = 2 entries and £10 = 10 entries. I already have a few donated prizes including 2 upper circle tickets to Only Fools and Horses The Musical, a bottle of Bristol Dry Gin 75% Turbo Island Edition and a KITBRIX bag, and I will be trying to obtain more prizes! Obviously donors have to be 18 or over in order to win the Gin and I will personally deliver this prizeto whoever wins it wherever they live in the UK. The prize draw will be held on Saturday 23rd March, using a random number generator and observed by independent members. I will notify each donor of their numbers prior to the draw. If I raise more funds than I need I will be donating the rest between Brecon and Bristol MIND.
