Healing for Shela Linton

Donation protected
On July 31st, 2016 Shela Linton, a collective member at The Root, survived a racist attack by two people in Brattleboro, VT. For more info about the event you can read the Commons article . She did not sustain any life threatening injuries, yet the physical and emotional trauma from this event will take time to heal. The impact of an event like this is not to be understated. Racism is real, and it has a real impact on the bodies and hearts of people we love.

This fund is to support Shela in both emotional and physical healing. Please gift generously, knowing that she is generous in her healing gifts for so many in this community who experience the daily pains of racism. She plans to use the gifts for nourishing food, for healing therapies, and for continuation of healing work in communities of color. Your support means the world to Shela and is crucial for this healing process.

This event has made it clear to Shela that there is so much healing that needs to happen in communities of color. She requests that you also contribute to a fund that will be used for healing in the Black community in VT. She would like those donations to be shared 50/50 between The Root Social Justice Center and Black Lives Matter VT. Donate here

Thank you for the outpouring of love and support.

in love and solidarity ~
