Healing for Communities of Color

Donation protected
Racism is very real in VT and has a real impact on people of color. On July 31st, 2016 Shela Linton, a black woman who is a leader in the community and in the state, survived a racist attack by two people in Brattleboro, VT. For more info about the event you can read the Commons article . She did not sustain any life threatening injuries, yet the physical and emotional trauma from this event will take time to heal.

This event has made it clear to Shela that there is so much healing that needs to happen in communities of color. She is requesting that people contribute to a fund that will be used for healing in the Black community in VT. She would like all money raised to be shared 50/50 between The Root Social Justice Center, in Brattleboro VT, and Black Lives Matter VT. There is another fund specifically for Shela's healing. Donate HERE .

Thank you all for your outpouring of love and support. While we generously support our friend in this hard time let's keep up the good work to end the racism and violence that is still so prevalent in our communities and country. We've got to keep showing up for racial justice.

With love and solidarity ~
